John W. James Jr. (born January 21, 1949 in Panama City, Florida) is a former National Football League punter from (1972-1984) for three teams: the Atlanta Falcons (10 years), the Detroit Lions (3 games) and the Houston Oilers (3 years). John is the father of four children, Helen, Matthew, Scott and Susanna and grandfather to Ella. He has held the position of Executive Director of Gator Boosters at the University of Florida (where he played college football) since 1986.
