Pencak Silat Sharaf

Pencak Silat Sharaf

Pencak Silat Sharaf, formerly known as Silat Mubai [This [http://www.cogtactical.com/termination.htm official notice] states the name change.] , is a Muslim martial art system of Silat.

tyle

Pencak Silat Sharaf is an extremely aggressive form of Silat which teaches primarily military applications of the martial arts that are practiced in the Muslim communities around the world, synthesised into a slim curriculum. The system focuses heavily on empty-hand, gun, knife fighting, wrestling, and traditional Muslim Chivalry called "Futawa". There are also body culture development exercises similar to Chi Kung which help develop the correct body mechanics for close quarter fighting.

It is a very descipled system which focuses on the course of action, intention, and spiritual readiness to face death and life with a similar gusto and desire for victory. The specialization of the system is the close quarter usage of the knife, and unlike other systems it is a totally ambush-oriented curriculum that is military in origin, so there is little knife-to-knife combat, but a lot of attack and counter-ambushing tactics.

Origin

The style is not a mix of different arts but rather a mix of different principles and concepts of movement which the founder turned into Jurus (forms of combat movement) which he created himself.

It is essentially composed of four primary sources:
#Malay Archipelago Combatives
#Ottoman Islamic Military Arts
#Chinese Muslim Warrior Arts
#Experiences and Research of the Founder Ustaz Hussein Udom
