Ranfurly, Renfrewshire

Ranfurly ("Rann Feòirling" in Gaelic) is a small settlement on the southern edge of Bridge of Weir in Renfrewshire, Scotland. The area originated primarily in the 1880s to 1910s, providing housing development in the higher land above the village, [ [http://www.renfrewshire.gov.uk/ilwwcm/publishing.nsf/Content/pt-ws-RanfurlyConservationArea Renfrewshire Community Website - Ranfurly Conservation Area ] ] taking its name from the ruined Ranfurly Castle.

Ranfurly Castle

Ranfurly Castle is believed to date from the 15th century, as a home of the Knox family but has been derelict since 1665. Its remains now sit on the Old Course Ranfurly Golf Club.
