STEC, Inc. was originally founded in California in March 1990 as Simple Technology, Inc. which introduced a line of memory upgrades for PCs, notebooks, servers, printers and devices. Simple Technology was founded by Manouch and Mike Moshayedi. On March 20, 2007, the company's Chief Technical Officer and Chief Operating Officer Mark Moshayedi was promoted to President. Co-founders and brothers Manouch (CEO), Mike (former president), and Mark (COO) Moshayedi and their families collectively owned more than 60% of SimpleTech.
In 1995, they were ecognized on the Inc 500 list as the 50th fastest-growing business in the nation. They introduces IC Tower TSOP stacking technology the same year. In 1996, their European headquarters open with complete design, manufacturing and logistics capabilities. They introduced Solid State flash memory cards the same year. In September 2000 they completed IPO in (Nasdaq: STEC). In 2001 in efforts to change their corporate identity, they changed the name of the company to SimpleTech, Inc.
In February 2007 after the divesture of its consumer business to Fabrik, the company's OEM division was renamed to STEC, Inc. They also opened facilities in Malaysia with complete design, manufacturing and logistics capabilities. STEC now has additional locations in Austria, Japan, China, and Taiwan.Finances
