2005 Illinois Fighting Illini men's basketball team

The 2004-05 Illinois Fighting Illini, the 100th season of men's basketball at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, enjoyed one of the most successful seasons in recent college history. After starting the regular season with a record of 29-0, dominating opponents throughout, and winning the Big Ten Conference regular season title outright, the Illini were Big Ten Tournament champions and advanced in the 2005 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament to the National Championship, where they lost to the University of North Carolina 70-75. They ended the season with an overall record of 37-2, tying the NCAA record for most wins in a season, and a conference record of 15-1.

*Deron Williams(Jr), point guard, 3rd pick in 2005 NBA Draft, plays for the Utah Jazz
*Luther Head (Sr), shooting guard, 24th pick in 2005 NBA Draft, plays for the Houston Rockets
*Roger Powell, Jr. (Sr), small forward, played for the Utah Jazz, played for the Arkansas Rimrockers of the NBDL, currently is playing for Teramo Basket of Serie A in Italy.
*James Augustine (Jr), power forward, 41st pick in 2006 NBA Draft, plays for the Orlando Magic

*Jack Ingram (Sr)
*Brian Randle (Fr), took a medical redshirt during the 2004-2005 NCAA tournament run season after punching a wall in frustration during practice and breaking his hand
*Warren Carter (So), currently plays in the Turkish Basketball League for Mutlu Akü Selçuk Üniversitesi. Through his first 6 games of the 07-08 season, he has averaged 17.8 points per game.
