Institute of Infection Diseases

The Institute of Infection Diseases formerly (Leprosy Hospital) situated in Manghopir, Gadap Town, Karachi. Leprosy Hospital bears historical significance as it has been serving the people for the last 110 years. It is the first of its kind in the province to conduct research on Leprosy, Hepatitis B & C, AIDS and Thalassemia.

The Institute would also serve as a school for Sanitary, Health and Food inspectors as well as offering diploma courses and research facilities to doctors, nurses and paramedical staff on infectious diseases through its modernised laboratory. The newly established laboratory was one of its kind in the entire province to identify leprosy diseases before it strikes a patient, adding that such a testing facility was only available in Islamabad.Newly established dental unit and eye operation theater would also serve leprosy patients as well as the common people of the area.
