Crawford, India

Crawford is a suburb of the city of Trichy in the state of TamilNadu in India. The suburb is 2 km from Trichy Central Bus Stand & 1.5 km from Trichy Railway Station. Crawford is surrounded by TamilNadu Special Police Quarters to the north, Military Camp to the east and Railway Quarters to the west.

Demographics

Residents are usually bankers, business people, teachers and clerical workers. The locality has an equal combination of middle class and upper middle class people.

Crawford is a diverse but well-integrated community. Hindus, Christians and Muslims are equally represented in the suburb, which contains two big churches, one mosque, and a few Hindu temples (Lord Vinayaga temple, Goddess Amman temples). The Roman Catholic church is called St. Theresa Church.

Facilities

Important areas include Anbu Nagar, TSA Nagar, Mission Kovil Street, Pillaiyar Kovil Street,Gandhi Nagar, Crawford colony, Bharathi Nagar and Convent Street. There are many playgrounds where many young people play cricket, the national sport.
