The Commissioner for Economic & Financial Affairs is the member of the
European Commission responsible for theEuropean Union 's Financial and monetary affairs, often combined with similar portfolios. The current Commissioner isJoaquín Almunia (PSE).The current head of cabinet is Gerassimos Thomas and the current Director-General is Klaus Regling.
