public high school located at 9800 South Mills AvenueWhittier, California 90604 and belongs to theWhittier Union High School District ."Cal High," as it is known, is home to the Condors, with around 3,000 students currently attending. The mascot is the
Condor and the school colors are blue and gold.It has been recently honored as aCalifornia Distinguished School , and is highly praised for its academies. It also offers a Latin program, which is uncommon in Southern California. Many sports are offered, such as soccer, tennis, softball, baseball, volleyball, cross-country, track, cheerleading and of course, football. The band has also won many commendations and awards, including sweepstakes at the local Band Jam competition 4 years running under the direction of Doug Nordquist (2004-2006), and has ranked 6th in theSCSBOA Marching Band Championship Competition.Academies

The theatre department is currently rehearsing for the show "The Boy Friend" written by Sandy Wilson, directed by the Drama teacher Mrs. Susan Eiden. Not only does the club participate in its annual Fall Play and Spring Musical, the Comedy Sportz team is also a very popular group on campus, and highly entertaining.
The dance department just recently had their spring performance with this year's theme of disney songs titled "Dance Magic" directed by Mrs. Natasha Fetrow and Mrs. Lindsey Hood. The CHS dance department also have a dance team known as "Performing Group" coached by Natasha Fetrow. This is the third year of having a dance team at California High School. The dance department at CHS has been thriving for nine years and it keeps growing each year as students enroll for their classes. As students come in with no prior or some prior experience, there is always room to grow for improvements. Many performances and competitions done annually do show their dedication not only to the department but the art of dance itself. The genres of dance taught are tap, jazz, ballet, pointe,hip-hop, and lyrical. Students can also letter in dance beginning their second year with competitions and other performances.
Journalism Program
The journalism program is student run (this year's Editors-in-Chief are Bianca Breitenbucher and Zachary Payne); and produces a publication approximately once every three weeks. They have won Sweepstakes in the Whittier Union High School District's Journalism competition three years in a row.
