Unterseeboot C-5 (also known as UC-5) was a German Type UC I
U-boat built for theKaiserliche Marine . She was commissioned onJune 19 1915 , atHamburg . She served inWorld War I under the command ofHerbert Pustkuchen (June 1915 - December 1915) andUlrich Mohrbutter (December 1915 - April 1916). "UC-5" had an impressive career, with 29 ships sunk for a total of 36,288 tons on 29 patrols. She ran aground while on patrolApril 27 1916 at coord|51|59|N|1|38|E| and was scuttled. Her crew were captured by HMS "Firedrake" and the submarine was displayed at Temple Pier on theThames river , and laterNew York for propaganda purposes.
