Randolph W. Thrower (born
September 5 ,1913 inTampa ,Florida ) is a partner atSutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP, a law firm with principal offices in Atlanta, GA and Washington, D.C. Thrower, running as a Republican, unsuccessfully challenged incumbent segregationistJames C. Davis for a seat in Congress in 1956. He later served asCommissioner of Internal Revenue under PresidentRichard Nixon from 1969 to 1971 and as chairman of the City of Atlanta's Board of Ethics from 1980 to 1992.Thrower graduated from
Georgia Military Academy in 1930. He received an undergraduate degree fromEmory University in 1934 and received his law degree from theEmory University School of Law in 1936.References
