Anglo -Utahn is an ethnic group consisting of the descendants ofMormon pioneers fromEngland , who migrated toUtah around 160 years ago.Population
The number of Anglo-Utahns is estimated at around 893,000, or about 29% of Utah's population. [ [http://www.utah.gov/about/demographics.html Demographics & Statistics] . "Utah.gov."] They are an integral part of Utah's culture. Many prominent Utah residents are Anglo-Utahn.
History
In the 1830s–40s, Mormon missionaries began proselyting efforts in the British Isles. They had great success, converting tens of thousands of English residents. Nearly all of them subsequently emigrated to the U.S., and traveled with the pioneers to Utah.
Classification
Anglo-Utahns are generally classified by their practice of the LDS religion, as well as having family surnames that originated in England.
