Filamer Christian College or the FCC is a higher education institution established 1904 by Rev. and Mrs. Joseph Robbins with the help of the American Baptist Foreign Mission Society. The college is located in Roxas City, Capiz, "Filamer" is the combined name of Filipino and American (Fil-Amer) who ventured together in providing Christian education in the Philippines.

History

Filamer Christian College provides education and home to orphans and poor children.

What inspires Rev. and Mrs. Joseph Robbins happened on August 1904 were entrusted with when they were entrusted to care three children. The situation of neglected homeless children touched their hearts which led to the establishment of Capiz Home school. The first building was a gift from the American Baptist Foreign Mission society. The first school was designed mainly for girls and at that time only had 26 children.

After the construction of the New Baptist Home School building, the institution started a co-ed type of education. On 1920, the school reached 80 pupils noting as a high record then.

In 1949, the school was raised into the secondary level. The Capiz Home School became Filamer Christian Institute in 1952.

Later, Filamer Christian College started to offer college-level training. Since then, population of the said school grew in number. As the population grew, the increase in number of professional courses offered also increased and the acquisition of properties and new buildings.

Year 1983-1984 were the trying years for the college, as the institution faced financial problems. It came under an interior management by Central Philippine University.

It was in 1985 that Filamer Christian Institute became officially known as Filamer Christian College.

Naming

The name "Filamer" is derived from the words Filipino "(fil)" and American "(amer)" who helped together in establishing the Christian school for children.
