Not far from the capital city of
Dhaka ,Bangladesh but away from the rumbling and humbling of city life, the RAJUK Uttara Model School and College stands on Dhaka-Mymensingh Road (Asian Highway) close to Azampur bus-stand. It is situated in the heart of Uttara Model Town about one kilometer from the zoomingZia International Airport offering an imposing and eye catching view of the passers-by. With an accommodation capacity for about 1200 students the college is spread over four acres of land with sprawling playground lying in front of the main Academic Building. The absence of a truly standard educational institute in the area had led to the idea of founding an institution of very high standard in the line of reputed public Schools/Colleges and Cadet Colleges in the Bangladesh.Primarily the construction of the main academic building was completed and the college section was formally inaugurated in the Academic year 1994-1995.
The idea of RAJUK Uttara Model School and College came from the fact that the necessity of a standard educational institution was immensely felt by the inhabitants of Uttara Model Town as it is cut off from the main city of Dhaka by a reasonable distance. So, it was thought as a wonderful idea to have a public School & College of a very high standard which will admit boys and girls from all walks of life strictly on merit through admission tests. It is expected that their academic training at this great institution would make them physically and mentally sound enough to adjust and complete with the rest in the pursuit of higher studies. They would eventually turn out as complete men and women having full confidence in their ability in the challenging world.
With this cardinal aim in view this institution is committed to:
a) Provide a congenial atmosphere worthy of smooth communion of thoughts and ideas between teachers and students.
b) Follow the national curriculum of education prescribed by the Text Book Board at all levels.
c) Follow network of co-curricular and extracurricular programs suitable for harmonious growth of physical and mental faculties of the students.
d) Undertake all possible measures so that the students can grow up as worthy citizens of the country and serve the country in different fields and give leadership to the nation.
e) The School will take special care so that each student is provided with the opportunities to develop morally, socially, physically, emotionally and intellectually to his or her full potential. CLASSES:
Presently classes are being held from Classes VI to XII in Bengali medium and Classes VI to X in English medium.
Admission
Entry to all classes are done strictly on merit. Students are admitted on the basis of the combined results of written and viva voce examinations.
SCHOOL SECTION
Student will be required to sit for an admission test on English, Bengali and Mathematics comprising 50 marks each. The syllabus of the class attended last will be followed for the said examination.
COLLEGE SECTION
Science Group: Student will be required to sit for an admission test on English and Higher Math/Biology comprising 50 marks each. The syllabus of S.S.C. will be followed for the said examinations.
Arts & Commerce: Student will be required to sit for an admission test on English, and General Math comprising 50 marks each. The syllabus of S.S.C. will be followed for the said examinations.
a. Candidates passing in the test are called for viva voce Exam.
b. Candidates are selected for admission in order of merit on the basis of the results of written, viva voce and medical examinations.
c. Application for admission are sought through an advertisement which is published in the leading national daily news papers. The date, time and venue for admission test are mentioned in the advertisement.
d. Candidates selected for admission shall have to submit the T.C. and testimonial from the head of the institution last attended.
e. The College authority reserves the right to reject the admission of any candidate without showing any cause whatsoever.
f. At the time of admission the successful candidates shall have to provide the following:-
:I. 10 copies of photograph of the following size: 1.5" × 1.75"
:II. School leaving certificate & testimonial.
Medium Of Instruction
Both Bengali and English have been adopted as medium of instructions. The students can choose either option in keeping with the policy of the BISE, Dhaka, Ministry of Education, Govt. of People's Republic of Bangladesh.
yllabuses and groups / sections
At present only pagla Sections have been introduced. In future some other disciplines may be introduced as per demand and if the authority deems them suitable.
The Syllabus for each section as approved by Dhaka Board are followed.
Foreign Languages
A lot of student and importance is laid on teaching foreign languages to the students. Each student will have to learn at least two languages. Special emphasis is given on English so that each and every student can speak easily and fluently. The authority has also taken steps to appoint overseas English teachers as well as local teachers specialized in English. Special class on spoken English and phonetics have been arranged to facilitate this particular program. Students desiring to sit for TOEFL and SAT examinations are provided necessary help and support from the college.
pecial coaching
In addition to routine and day to day academic schedules special coaching classes on major subjects are arranged before the start of final S.S.C. & H.S.C. Examinations so that the candidates are better prepared for excellent Board results. Regular Extra Classes are also being arranged for comparatively weak students in academics.
Discipline
The hallmark for marking the student of any educational institution is discipline. Any institute lacking of discipline can be compared with a boat without a rudder. It is very sad that now day discipline very much wane in most of the educational institutions, which constantly worries the parents and guardians. However, this institution has made it a point to put vital importance on discipline. It is bent on ensuring the observance of college rules and regulations and discipline at any cost. The authority of RAJUK Uttara Model School & College is firmly committed to maintain discipline in order to uphold the sanctity and peaceful educational atmosphere of the institution. The institution has already proved it during the last 05 years.
Code of students' behavior
The code of students’ behavior is to help them to develop their potential as contributing and responsible member of the society who will think clearly, feel deeply and act wisely. It recognizes the need for a co-operative relationship between student, parents and education. STANDING ORDERS / RULES:
a. All days scholars will have to attend classes regularly and punctually.
b. For absence in the owing to illness or unavoidable reasons College authority must be informed beforehand
c. Participation in Pt. / drill, games, outdoor activities and co-curricular activities organized by the College is compulsory for all students.
d. During College hours no student is allowed to go out of the College premises without prior approval of the authority.
e. Without prior approval of the Principal no guardian / parents will enter into the college even the College is in session.
f. Except on parents day or on any day specially arranged by the College authority no parents / guardians are allowed to see their children as and when the college activities are in progress.
g. No parents or guardians are allowed to see the Principal without earlier appointment.
h. Options are there for the guardians / parents to meet the Principal / VP on all Saturdays between 830 to 1330 hrs.
Uniform
All students must wear college uniform as designed and directed by the college authority.
Boys: White Shirt and Navy Blue Trouser.
Girls: Navy Blue Frock, White Payjama & White Orna.
Identity Card: It will be provided by the college and every student must display and wear it on the left pocket of his / her shirt.
As an exceptional educational institute RUMSC puts special stress on co-curricular activities of the students. To exploit and cultivate the inner faculties of the participants and also to help develop their body and mind harmoniously, a vigorous with the normal academic programmes round the year. The programme includes football, volleyball, handball and basketball. A future plan is in the offing to make P.T. and afternoon games compulsory.Special emphasis is being given on literary and cultural activities. To enkindle the sense of cultural awareness among the students a yearly cultural week is observed with great zeal and enthusiasm by the students of the college. The cultural week includes Hamd, Nat, Quirat, Debate, Recitation, Music, Drama, Story Telling, Caricature, etc. Students in large number participate in the competitions. Among other activities are Stamp collection, drawing and painting, photography, gardening, poetry, scouting, band and junior cadet corps. Besides, a colorful wall paper reflecting the thoughts and ideas of budding writers is brought out in each term.

The outdoor games include two basketball courts, one football, one cricket, three volleyball, one handball and six badminton grounds / courts. Students participate in the games regularly.
Indoor Games:Indoor game facilities include five table tennis, five carom boards, five chess and five word making boards. These are beautifully placed in the school common room and verandahs.
College Gymnasium
The school/college has one big, gymnasium.
