He is also a self-taughtfilmmaker .Considered one of Pakistan’s more cerebral and better known film critics, Jawaid's journalistic style often includes keen technical insights of filmmaking and large paragraphs relating to specific scenes within the movie. His reviews also don't shy away from quoting other film critics or journalists. His most quoted film critics are A.O. Scott and
