- WinProm
WinProm is a
computer program written by amathematician Edward Earl ofSan Diego . The program usesUSGS Digital Elevation Model (DEM) databases to automatically calculate peaks, ridge s, andkey col s. It is intended to help calculate the prominence of a peak in the cases when the key col is very far away from a high-prominence peak. The program saves time by identifying areas where high peaks are, and areas where the key col is likely to be found.
The program is very complex and has many enhancements, such as algorithms that try to match DEM maxima to known peak locations.
