The Centre for Jewish-Christian Relations

The Centre for the Study of Jewish-Christian Relations (CJCR), based at Wesley House, Cambridge is an institute for the study and teaching of Jewish-Christian Relations and the promotion of interfaith dialogue. CJCR operates under the auspices of the Woolf Institute of Abrahamic Faiths and is a sister institute of the Centre for the Study of Muslim-Jewish Relations, established 2006.

Founded by Dr Edward Kessler and Rev Dr Martin Forward in 1998, CJCR teaches Cambridge University’s MSt in the Study of Jewish-Christian Relations, and offers a variety of other educational programmes in the encounter between Jews and Christians.. CJCR is an Associate Member of the Cambridge Theological Federation (CTF).

Academic staff are also active in their own fields of study and publish widely and CJCR also initiates research programmes such as the acclaimed A Dictionary of Jewish-Christian Relations (CUP: 2005) and is presently managing a 3-year research project on Jewish and Christian biblical interpretation, which is located at at the Faculty of Divinity

The aims of CJCR are:

· To promote positive interfaith relations through a deeper understanding of Judaism and Christianity

· To combat prejudice and intolerance by educating future teachers and opinion formers

· To disseminate its educational programme throughout Europe
