Samir Brikho was appointed Chief Executive of AMEC plc as of October 1, 2006, replacing former CEO Sir Peter Mason.
Since assuming his role at AMEC, Brikho has spearheaded a widely reported and rapid turnaround of the company’s performance. In 2007 the company posted interim pre-tax profits 127% higher than the previous year, and exited from its construction activities through the divestment of a series of non-core businesses. He has been credited with delivering £40 million of annually recurring benefits through an efficiency and cost-control programme called STEP Change, ahead of expectation and schedule.
In his first year as Chief Executive, AMEC’s share price increased by 99%, resulting in the company entering the FTSE100 in December 2007, and outperforming any other member of that index, according to the Sunday Telegraph. At the same time the company stock was relisted from Support Services to the Oil Equipment and Services sector.
Brikho is currently leading a comprehensive business optimisation programme called Operational Excellence which, along with a series of strategic acquisitions, is aimed at enhancing the company's margins.

Since 1983, he has held various senior management positions at ABB and Alstom in Sweden, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium and France.
Biography
Born in Beirut in 1958, Brikho is Lebanese by birth but his family later moved to Sweden where he holds citizenship. Brikho holds a Master of Science degree in Thermal Technology from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden, and is also a graduate of the YMP Program from Insead, France, and the Senior Executive Program from Stanford University, US.
Brikho is actively involved in working to bridge community divides in the Middle East. He is a founding member of the Palestine International Business Forum PIBF, a multi-lateral forum supported by the Swedish government to promote balanced trade and business relations between Israeli and Palestinian private sectors and the broader International business community. Brikho also sits on the advisory board of the School of Oriental and African Studies in London.
