Jaideep Mehrotra (born 1954, Mumbai, India) is a well-known
India n artist. He did his schooling inMayo College ,Rajasthan after which he pursued business studies from theUniversity of Mumbai .He works in a variety of media, including oils acrylics, sculpture, [digital
lithograph s/ paintings,mixed-media works, and site specific audio-visual installations.A self-taught artist, he held his first solo exhibition in 1967 at the age of 12.fact|date=December 2007 His unique style, developed as a concatenation from introspection and mystical exploration, could be described as
surreal , iconic orhyper-realism . The creative quest of not confining to parameters, has driven him to experiment with different mediums & subjects, both within and without the two dimensional. Paintings about life as perceived by society, or an enigma of sorts. People’s relationship with their emotions and the interactivity with what surrounds them.
He has held solo exhibitions in various cities around the world and has conducted Lecture Demonstrations as Stimulation sessions on Painting and the creative use of Computer as an Art form at educational institutions and art festivals.
He was the first Indian artist to have his own web site, as well as the first Indian artist to have his own interactive CD-ROM.fact|date=December 2007
In an attempt to broaden his artistic horizons, Jaideep has produced movie titles and publicity stills for "
Split Wide Open ", a 1999Dev Benegal film; book covers forVikram Chandra (Penguin India Ltd.) and Prashant Parikh (Hamilton & Co.Publ. London); and a corporate calendar for Jindal Vijaynagar Steel Ltd. He has also made short films onAmitabh Bachchan andMahatma Gandhi , which were screened at the Kala Ghoda Fest in Mumbai and screened at Short Film Festivals around the country. Mehrota took part in the International Digital Art Awards 2003 Exhibition, Australia.
