Ahmed Abdul Ghafour al-Samarrai

Sheik Ahmed Abdul Ghafour al-Samarrai was head of the head of the Sunni Endowments which cares for Sunni mosques and shrines in Iraq. He is a member of the Association of Muslim Scholars.

On February 21, 2007, he was fired by Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki after al-Samarrai called for an international investigation into the rape allegations leveled by an Iraqi Sunni Arab woman Sabreen al-Janabi against three members of the Shiite-dominated Iraqi Security Forces.
