Pakad

Pakad

In Hindustani music, a pakad is a generally-accepted musical phrase (or set of phrases) thought to encapsulate the essence of a particular raga. In many cases, the pakad is implied from the convolutions of the arohana and avrohana, while in some cases it must be memorized separately.
