Rainard School for Gifted Students is a private school located in
Houston ,Texas ,United States serving children 4 1/2 years through 12th grade who are identified as academically gifted.The Rainard School is located outside of
Beltway 8 and north ofInterstate 10 in an outerlying portion of western Houston.History
Rainard opened in 1986. It was founded by Dr. Lorraine Bouchard. Dr. Bouchard left the school in 2008, and is no longer involved with the school.
The school has a unique thematic curriculum for the lower school, with a different overarching theme on a three year rotation. For 2008-2009, the theme is "Freedom." Classes are multi-age, multi-level, with a given classroom spanning three to four traditional grade levels. The school has a target of a 12 to 1 student to teacher ratio. As of 2008, the school's total enrollment is approximately 70 students.
