water park located in northeastGrand Prairie, Texas near the intersection of Belt Line Road and Interstate 30.History
The park was originally built and developed in 1982 by
Herschend Family Entertainment Corporation . It originally opened as "White Water" in the Grand Prairie Entertainment district along with Lion County Safari and the Palace of Wax. White Water suffered financially and was ultimately closed in 1985 byHerschend Family Entertainment Corporation due to on-going competition withWet 'n Wild convert|7|mi|km in nearbyArlington, Texas .The park was redeveloped in 1991 and 1992 as Boardwalk Fun Park. The new owners used much of the old infrastructure and rides in the new park. The park suffered delays in construction and ride certifications, and it opened in July 1992. In September 1992, an accident on the park's roller coaster, the
Pipeline Express , threw a 12 year old girl some convert|35|ft|m into an empty pool beneath the ride causing her to slip into a coma and suffer brain trauma. The park was closed following the accident and never again reopened. After the closing, the park aimed at reopening for the 1993 season, but lawsuits from the girl's family prevented the park from obtaining the required insurance requirements and funding for the park. After sitting closed for several years, in 1997 the park's land was purchased by
Six Flags and the infrastructure and rides were removed and sealed over to prevent competition from opening there again. The park's attractions were fully removed in 1998, creating an empty vacant lot. The current site is now mostly vacant with some of the former parking lot used for the Grand Prairie Ford car dealership.Rides and attractions
