After graduating from
Auburn University in 1975, he anchored and reported sports forWSFA-TV inMontgomery, Alabama . He worked as sports anchor forNBC affiliate WCKT (nowWSVN ) inMiami from 1977 to 1983, again forWCVB-TV inBoston in 1983, and weeknight news anchor forWTLV , the NBC affiliate in Jacksonville in 1986. He helped foundChristians in the Media , a fellowship for local journalists, and is an elder in thePresbyterian Church in America .In addition, he has performed eight years of military service, including deployment to
