Governor-General of the Solomon Islands
- Governor-General of the Solomon Islands
The Governor-General of the Solomon Islands is the de facto Head of State of the Solomon Islands, representing Queen Elizabeth II, who is styled "Queen of the Solomon Islands."
Unlike the Governors-General of many other Commonwealth Realms, the Governor-General of the Solomons is appointed by the monarch on the advice of Parliament to a five-year term.
Though the office holds considerable reserve powers, it is largely a symbolic figurehead position with little day-to-day involvement in government.
The current Governor General is the Right Honourable Sir Nathaniel Waena.
Prior to the establishment of the office, the islands were governed by a Governor and the Executive Council.
