Verhoeven's Giant Tree Rat ("Papagomys theodorverhoeveni") lived in Indonesia. It was 1996 when it was assessed to be extinct. However, experts believed that it died out before 1500 AD. The species is known only from several subfossil fragments found on Flores Island, Indonesia.
