Kurt Ahrens Jr. started in 1958 with
Formula 3 and won the GermanFormula Junior title in 1961 and 1963. He then racedFormula 2 and was present whenJim Clark was killed at theHockenheimring in 1968.Kurt joined also the
Porsche factory sports car team and shared victory withJo Siffert in the 1969 Austrian 1000km event. The following year he partnered withVic Elford to win the 19701000km Nürburgring . He retired in 1971.Due to the long
