rock and roll band based inSchaumburg, Illinois , a Northwest suburb of Chicago. The band includes Stephen Dicicco (vocals, guitar), Kevin Schneider (bass guitar), and Brad Weitzman (drums).History
Stephen Dicicco, Matthew Kittner and Kevin Schneider have been lifelong friends. They started playing together in 1997 during their freshmen year of high school. In 1999, the trio recruited two additional members (Jason Zingraff and Tom Taft), forming the hard rock band "Anodyne".
"Anodyne", recorded and distributed a 3-song demo in 1999, performed live regularly, and attained a relatively sizable following in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. "Anodyne" consisted of, Jason Zingraff (vocals), Stephen Dicicco (lead guitar), Tom Taft (guitar), Kevin Schneider (bass guitar), and Matthew Kittner (drums). Anodyne released one album, "Thoughtless" in April 2000. Conflicts between members caused the band to stop performing in 2001.
"Anodyne" "officially" dissolved in late 2002 when co-founding members Stephen Dicicco and Kevin Schneider parted ways with the other members, recorded a demo, and then moved to Los Angeles, California. Matthew Kittner, although still formally part of the band, remained behind. Various replacement drummers sat in during live performances and recording sessions.
In the spring of 2004, the duo returned to Schaumburg, Illinois, to re-group with Matthew Kittner and recorded the "Braintree" demo; toning down the hard rock sound for a more rock and roll sound on par with the likes of
Led Zeppelin andPearl Jam (two of the band's biggest influences). At this time the band officially adopted the name "Reverie"."Reverie" hit the local circuit and released the "Sick of Seeing Stars EP" in November 2004. The EP was warmly received. It contained four songs; three new songs and "Reasons", a much revised version of "On to Me", a song that originally appeared on the "Thoughtless" album.
On February 23, 2007, Reverie headlined the Cubby Bear in Chicago to coincide with the release of "Shaky Coma". The band also showcased "Shaky Coma" on Chicago's WXRT Radio, which hosts a “weekly look at the Windy City’s top musicians, and the music they’re making.” The show aired on February 18, 2007 and also featured an exclusive interview.
In December 2007, co-founding member Matthew Kittner formally announced his departure from the band. The band played its last show with Kittner on December 15th at the Cubby Bear in Chicago. Longtime friend Brad Weitzman has joined the band as Kittner's permanent replacement. Weitzman's first show with the band was January 19th at the Double Door in Chicago. The new outfit has since spent a majority of 2008 playing shows, writing new material and touring the midwest. Upon their return Reverie put the final touches on a new EP. "A Boy and His Crown" had a well received release on August 15th, 2008 @ The Metro in Chicago. Reverie is due to head back to the studio Ocotber 2008.
