Vishnu Prabhakar (विष्णु प्रभाकर)(born 1912) is a
Hindi writer. He has written several short stories, novels, plays and travelogues to his credit.Early life
Prabhaker was born in Mirapur village of
Muzaffarnagar district inUttar Pradesh . He completed his matric from Hisar in 1929 and joined government service. Even with his work he pursued his interest in literature. He also joined aNatak company in Hissar. He wrote in 1939, Hatya Ke Baad, his first play. For some time he took writing as his full time career. After independence he worked as a drama director inAakashvani ,New Delhi . He came into news when in 2005 he threatened to return hisPadma Bhushan award after he allegedly had to face misconduct atRashtrapati Bhavan .Writing style
Prabhaker's works has elements of patriotism, nationalism and messages of social upliftment.
