- Raymond de Gaufredi
Raymond de Gaufredi (died 1310) was a
Franciscan fromProvence . A sympathizer with theFranciscan Spirituals , he becameMinister General of the Order of Friars Minor in 1289. On the death ofPope Nicholas IV in 1292, he felt able to relax the sanctions against the Spirituals. He was responsible in particular for the release from prison ofRoger Bacon .
