The Loxahatchee River (Seminole for "river of turtles"cite web|url=http://www.dep.state.fl.us/secretary/news/2005/08/0802_02.htm|title=Loxahatchee River Restoration Plan Moves Forward|work=|publisher=Florida Department of Environmental Protection] is a 7.6 mile rivercite web|url=http://www.rivers.gov/wsr-loxahatchee.html|title=Loxahatchee River, Florida|work=|publisher=National Wild and Scenic Rivers System] on the southeast coast of Florida. It is a National Wild and Scenic River, one of only two in the state, and received its federal designation on May 17, 1985. The river partly runs through the Jonathan Dickinson State Park.
