Largo Cricket Club (Largo CC) is a Scottish village
cricket team based inUpper Largo ,Fife .Largo CC has three competitive teams each playing in different divisions of the East Leagues, run by the
East of Scotland Cricket Association . Largo CC often fields a social team, has a successful youth cricket setup with their U15's getting to the semi-final of theScottish Cup in 2006. They also run various social cricketing events. There had been a Largo Cricket Club in existence post-World War II that had played quite close to the present ground at East Drive throughout the 1950s. According to some reports the wicket was close to Largo House but unfortunately there is not much evidence left of the "old" Largo Cricket Club.On
13 August 1983 , Largo Cricket Club rose from the ashes and played their first ever match atSilverburn , byLeven . A notable success was the clubs2002 victory in theScottish Small Clubs Cup competitionOn
11 May 1986 Largo Cricket Club opened their East Drive wicket with an all star match against the then recently crownedNational Village Champions ,Freuchie . Over 500 people turned up to watch the match and there were beer tents, tea and cakes, stalls and various sideshows. President at the time, Andrew Duncan said, " We are absolutely delighted that we have now reached the stage where this opening match can take place, secure in the knowledge that Largo Cricket Club now have a home ground".Largo also recruited the services of a former international to help them unveil the new pitch. It was graced for its inauguration by former England and Kent cricket captain
Mike Denness , who played for Largo against Freuchie. Denness, a native of Ayr, played over 20 years of first class cricket and averaged just under 40 in his 26 test matches including 4 test centuries and a highest score of 188 against Australia in 1974 / 75 at theMCG .
