Born with the gift of running , Rodney was a state record holder in track and field. Rodney attended Western High School , where he played football and ran track. He graduated with honors, and later went to a Junior College in Kansas, and then graduated from University of South Carolina with a degree in Criminal Justice.He finished seventh in
200 metres at the 2006 World Athletics Final. He finished fourth in the final of the 200m at the 2007 World Championships inOsaka with a new personal best time of 20.06s coming one hundredth of a second behind fellow American Wallace Spearmon.Martin represented the
United States at the 2008 Summer Olympics inBeijing . He competed at the4x100 metres relay together withTravis Padgett ,Darvis Patton andTyson Gay . In their qualification heat they did not finish due to a mistake in the baton exchange and they were eliminated.Personal bests
