Andrew Havill

Andrew Havill (born c. 1965) is a British actor.

Biography

Early in his career, Andrew Havill worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company and at the National Theatre, and starred opposite David Burke in "The Woman in Black" in London's West End (1996).

Since then, stage roles have included Antipholus of Syracuse, directed by Christopher Luscombe, in Shakespeare's "The Comedy of Errors" at Shakespeare's Globe (2006), Patrice in a West End production of Jean Anouilh's "Ring Around the Moon" (2008) and Alex Huby, the main character in Alan Ayckbourn's play "Virtual Reality" (2000), directed by Ayckbourn.

In 2008 he gathered a string of plaudits for his role as Frank Ford in the Globe's production of "Merry Wives of Windsor", also directed by Luscombe.

TV credits include the BBC's "The Impressionists", in which he played Edouard Manet alongside Richard Armitage (Monet). In 2006 he starred as the head of MI5 in BBC2's "Nuclear Secrets", and as Bassianus opposite David Threlfall's Constantine in "". He also played the husband of cookery writer Elizabeth David in a docu-drama about her life.

Film work has included "The Broken" (2008), "Sylvia" (with Gwyneth Paltrow), "The Heart of Me" (with Helena Bonham Carter), "Wilde" and "Restoration".

In 2007, Havill played the husband of Daphne du Maurier, 'Boy' Browning, in a BBC drama to celebrate the writer's centenary year. He appeared in the Doctor Who Christmas Special 2007, screened on Christmas Day. He also takes roles in films about Winston Churchill and The Shooting of Tom Hurndall to be screened in 2008.
