February 19 ,1881 -December 22 ,1964 ) was a French architect. He was born inMarseille and died inParis .He was an architect in chief of many French
civil building s andnational palace s, and member of theAcadémie des Beaux-Arts .He is known for his
reinforced concrete religious buildings such as theÉglise Sainte-Thérèse-de-l'Enfant-Jésus in Élisabethville (Yvelines ), with extensive sculptural work by sculptorCarlo Sarrabezolles . Also, Tournon designed theéglise du Saint-Esprit in Paris andCathédrale Sacré-Coeur inCasablanca ,Morocco .Tournon was the son-in-law of
Édouard Branly , the husband ofÉlisabeth Branly , painter, and the father of two girls, Florence Tournon-Branly, author of stained glasses, and Marion Tournon-Branly, architect and professor at theÉcole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts and theFontainebleau Schools .References and notes
