- Super Loop
The Super Loop (a.k.a. UC Oro) is a bus-based
public transportation system being built inSan Diego, California ,USA , in the University City area.Station construction will begin in late 2007. Super Loop will begin operations in late 2008. At the launch of Super Loop service vehicles will run approximately every 10 minutes during the peak periods. Adjustments may be made after periodic review to better serve demand.
The system will feature a number of amenities associated with
Bus Rapid Transit , such as signal priotarization, electronic signs in shelters indicating time until the arrival of the next bus, and recognizable branding. It will, however, feature only a small quantity of dedicated lanes.Traffic pattern studies show that 60% of vehicles traveling in University City make internal trips. The Super Loop is expected to reduce the number of vehicles on the road by absorbing the traffic created by internal travelers.
