December 23 ,1956 ) is a formerAmerican football offensive tackle who played ten seasons with theMiami Dolphins of the NFL. He was selected by the Dolphins in the first round as the 24th overall pick in the1979 NFL Draft .Giesler grew up in
Woodville, Ohio , a town of approximately 2,000 people, located 30 minutes southeast ofToledo, Ohio . He attendedWoodmore High School inElmore, Ohio where he was a football and track star. He won the Ohio Class "A" State Championship in both shot put and discus. After graduating high school in 1975, he attended theUniversity of Michigan on a football scholarship and played under the legendary coach,Bo Schembechler . In 1977, during his junior year, Giesler saw action in all 12 games playing both left and right tackle. He started all 12 games at left tackle during his senior season in 1978, and was an All Conference selection in theBig Ten .Following his retirement from the NFL at the conclusion of the 1988 season, Giesler remained in Florida where he owns a chain of restaurants.
