Programs of Study

Ross Sheppard offers the International Baccalaureate (I.B.) Diploma Program in addition to the Alberta education curriculum. During this year continue in a partial I.B. program, or continue in the regular Alberta education program. Most students take the regular Alberta education program while few students take the full program. Students complete the I.B. program while fulfilling their Alberta diploma requirements. The class structure of Ross Sheppard is different from that of Harry Ainlay Composite High School, in that core-classes can be taken all year or in one of the two semesters, allowing for very flexible schedules. This structure can allow a grade 9 student to take Math 10 as a summer school course and complete Math 20 and 30 in the grade 10 year, which will give the student an opportunity to finish one of the diploma exams in the first year of high school. It should be noted that the method for math is the only way a student can take a diploma exam in grade 10, with the exception of special situations. Ross Sheppard also offers French Immersion with the first class graduating in 2008 with a bilingual diploma.

During spring break, 2007, the Ross Sheppard Cheer Team traveled to Orlando, Florida to compete in Nationals. Their Co-Ed Cheer team placed second against some of the best teams in the United States. The Varsity team also did fairly well.
