- Pleora
Pleora Technologies Inc. is a privately held Canadian company that offers camera-to-PC connectivity solutions for machine vision, video-over-IP, and security/surveillance applications. The company was founded in 2000 by George Chamberlain and Alain Rivard.
Pleora’s hardware and software products stream video and imaging data in real time over standard Gigabit Ethernet (GigE) networks. The company has two lines of products: the iPORT and the EtherCast lines.
The company’s family of iPORT IP Engines are used in such applications as medical imaging, industrial inspection, post and parcel sorting, high-end surveillance, homeland security, and intelligent traffic monitoring and have been incorporated in cameras that serve these applications.
In 2003, Pleora teamed with Pulnix to lead a coalition of other leading industry players to standardize the delivery of high-speed imaging data over Gigabit Ethernet. The management of the standard later moved to the Automated Imaging Association (AIA) and became known as the GigE Vision Standard initiative. Version 1.0 of the GigE Vision standard was ratified in May 2006 and is now managed by the Automated Imaging Association (AIA).
In 2004, stemming from a collaboration with Japanese public broadcaster NHK, Pleora expanded into the video-over-IP transport sector with its family of EtherCast Video IP Engines and Systems. The EtherCast products convert broadcast-quality video (DVB-ASI and SD/SDI) to IP packets and are used to transport video over GigE Layer 2 VLANs.
Pleora's hardware and software products have received numerous awards, including the Frost & Sullivan 2007 Product Innovation Award (iPORT Connectivity Solution) and Best Software in Advanced Imaging Pro's 2007 Readers Choice Awards (eBUS Driver Suite).
Pleora offers all products in enclosed, OEM and licensed forms.
