Morningside Baptist Church

Morningside Baptist Church (MBC) is a Baptist church originally located in Morningside, Edinburgh. The church was built as a Free church in 1872. It proved to be too small so they built what is now the Churchhill Theatre and moved there. As the Holy Corner church was vacant it was bought in 1894/95 for £8000 for use as a Baptist church. The first minister was the Rev Cumming Brown. There was a serious fire in December 1973 and the church re-opened for worship in 1975 with major changes to the sanctuary area. From 2006 to May 2011, due to expanding numbers, MBC held Sunday services both in the Holy Corner church and in the Braid Centre, Morningside. In June 2011 the church purchased Methodist Central Hall in Tollcross, Edinburgh and now have all worship services, offices and activities based there.

Worship Services are - Two morning services. 9.30 am - a quieter, traditional service. 10.30am - an all-age contemporary service with a band. Creche available and mbc kids. Lasts around one and a half hours. In the evening at 6.30pm there is a contemporary service with many students, young people and the young at heart, with a band leading the music. Lasts for around 2 hrs.
