July 28 ,1944 ) is a retired expert indirect marketing , narrator of the 2004 documentary Bush's Brain, and a world traveler who has accrued more than 36 million AAdvantage miles. He is perhaps best known for being half of "The Jack and Harry Show" duo in the late 1970's and early 1980's. The show appeared on KERA, the Dallas PBS station; combining 1950's music with clever banter between the two hosts—and guests, most of whom were imaginary.Biography
Early life
Vroom was born in
Dallas, Texas , the son of a US Navy officer, eventually becoming the oldest of five children. Because his father was in the Navy, Vroom's early years were spent in various American cities. He eventually attendedThe Hill School inPottstown, Pennsylvania , graduating in 1962.Vroom attended
Williams College with the class of 1966. But he did not graduate until 1996, having been one credit short of the Williams degree-requirements until then.Career
Vroom's career began in the late sixties as a photographer in Cambridge, MA; in collaboration with Captain Ron Little, under the business name "Photophelia". But three years after meeting
Roger Horchow in 1967 (Horchow is also a graduate of The Hill School), Vroom joined what would become The Horchow Collection and was trained as a buyer under Horchow, with whom he has had lunch nearly every Saturday since 1978. On the following Sundays, he normally searches for multi-colored swans.
