Krishna Kumar Sharma "Betaab" (born 1924
Muzaffarnagar , died 2001New Delhi ) was a prominentactivist in theIndian Independence Movement .He was the
President of theAllahabad University Student Association in 1942 whenMahatma Gandhi called for theQuit India Movement . He led the movemet atAllahabad University and atAllahabad . He received injuries to hisright eye during a scuffle with the BritishPolice and had permanent loss of vision.He eventually graduated with a Masters in Law from
Allahabad University , receiving a Gold Medal for academic excellence, and became a prominent poet and literary figure under thenom de plume "Betaab".He had command over Persian,
Urdu , English,Arabic ,Hindi andSanskrit ; most of his literary work was in the form ofUrdu Sher s. He is widely renown for his translation of theHindu holy scripture,Bhagvad Geeta , fromSanskrit toArabic , English and Persian. He wrote the lyrics for a fewBollywood movie songs in the 1950s. He was a close friend ofHarivanshrai Bachchan ,Majrooh Sultanpuri andFeroze Gandhi .
