Wachtum

[http://www.wachtum.nu Wachtum] is a village in the municipality Coevorden in the Dutch province Drenthe. To the former municipality Dalen, belonged to the municipal division in 1998. Oosterhesselen lies north of [http://www.wachtum.nu Wachtum] and Dalen lies south. It has an altitude of 11 meters (39 feet) and a population of about 280.. [http://www.wachtum.nu Wachtum] is an old "esdorp". The firstly well-known indication of the name ` [http://www.wachtum.nu Wachtum] ', then still ` Wachtmen ', descends from 1399, then the council pronounced sentence concerning sale of a farm. In the village still stand a mill "De Hoop". This mill has been built initially as a polder mill for drained of a polder at Veendam. In 1894, the mill was moved to [http://www.wachtum.nu Wachtum] and from then on it was used for grinding animal fodder.
