- Ice Blast
Ice blast is a frozen carbonated drink made by Britvic. The drink is served from machines found at venues like cinemas, theme parks and ice rinks. The drink was promoted as 'superior to slushy type drinks' as it used granules of ice combined with the flavoring to avoid being left with a cup of plain ice after a few slurps. The drink has been re-branded to 'Tango Ice Blast' but still has the same flavours including cherry, blue raspberry, lemon and bubblegum.
"Tango Ice Blast" is also the name of a highly-advanced thrill ride situated at
Pleasure Beach Blackpool , a rapidly growingamusement park situated along Ocean Boulevarde,Blackpool , UK. Built by S&S Power of Utah, the ride consists of a single tower which houses numerous metal cyllinders that generate the 'thrust air' to catapult a single car 200ft into the air before swooping back down to the ground. This is repeated as the car slowly bounces riders to a stop where the ride is hauled back to its starting position.Ice Blast-The Ride!
The ride (commonly known as the
Space Shot ride) is amongst many which use this type of catogorised thrill as a major ride featured around the fair circuit and numerous otheramusement parks . The ride at Pleasure Beach was built for the 1997 season and at the time of going to press was strangely named 'The Ejector.' This name was changed however when Pleasure Beach obtained a sponsorship deal withSony , which at the time was an on-going success. The ride was opened as 'Playstation: The Ride' and drew in many people by the sheer look of the thing. However, in 2002, the name and its sponsorship were lost, and the ride stood without any name in its dormant season. After the opening of 'Valhalla' another flume-type ride that is built beside the ride, the ride was given a new paint-job and re-named 'Ice Blast' the name of a popular drink sold in yards and special slush capsules around the park. In 2004, the ride was given the updated name of 'Tango Ice Blast' to go with the change of the 'Ice Blast' revenue. The ride operates under this name to this day.Height Restriction
