Lanescott is a hamlet in mid-
Cornwall ,England , near theEnglish Channel coast, positioned about six miles from the tourist town ofFowey and eight miles fromSt Austell , home of theEden Project . The name in Cornish means 'Bishops Palace' or 'Holy House'. At the turn of the 18th century Lanescott was reputed to have the largest tin and copper mine in the world. The only remaining parts of this time are buildings that were used as stables for the donkeys to transport the copper ore to Fowey docks and the remnants of an engine house.Today Lanescott is a small farming hamlet containing numerous countryside walks (the
Saints' Way passes through) and sweeping views over the Cornish village of Par with its beach amenities and docks.
