Sogarwar (सोगरवार), Sogaria (सोगरिया) or "'Sogarwal" (सोगरवाळ) are
gotra s ofJats primarily found in the Bharatpur district ofRajasthan ."
Faujdar " was a title awarded by the then Muslim rulers to people who had responsibility of protecting some territory. Apart form Sogarwal, Chahar, Sinsinwar, Kuntal etc Jat gotra people also used this title.Sogarwars are descendants of the
Yaduvansh orChandravansh . A famous Sogarwar warrior named Sugriv founded the present Sogar town in Rajasthan near Baharatpur close to the border ofUttar Pradesh .He constructed a fort there known as Sugrivgarh. Currently there is a "
matha " (मठ) of Sugriv in Sogar. All Sogarwals used to keep some grains separate for him from their harvest and during marriages they offer money for Sugriv "matha".
