ELawyering

ELawyering

eLawyering is a term used to refer to the practice of law over the Internet. It is a term that is more expansive than a mere legal related internet advertisement for a service, lawyer, or law firm. eLawyering iniatives have been undertaken by the American Bar Association in order to reach a "latent market" of lower and middle class citizens in need of legal services. Lawyers practicing law online are also referred to as "virtual lawyers" and practice from virtual law offices. A virtual law office (VLO) is a professional law practice that exists online through a secure portal and is accessible to the client and the attorney anywhere the parties may access the Internet. A virtual law office allows for secure personal communication between an online client and his or her virtual attorney. This differs from "form generated" legal documents for sale and purchase by an attorney or company selling unbundled legal documents. Many virtual law offices used for elawyering are built with secure, web-based software as a service (SaaS) applications.
