Vicky and Jade are best friends. Vicky is a
flamboyant and outgoing girl while Jade isshy and timid and usually follows Vicky's rules. After fighting about what extra-curricular activity to take together and arguing as Jade finally sticks up for herself, Vicky dashes out on to the road without looking and steps in the path of a car. Vicky is taken tohospital after being hit where she is reported dead frominternal injuries . Jade goes with her and is absolutely devastated when she learns that Vicky is dead. However just an hour after her death Vicky reappears as a ghost beside Jade though she is the only one who can see or hear her.As Jade tries to get used to life without Vicky, or at least without a Vicky that other people can see, Vicky's spectre becomes more and more controlling. Jade is forced to do as Vicky wishes, and can't get on with her life and make new friends. In the end Jade has to confront the past and look for the truth behind her grief. However, Vicky ends up saving Jade's life after she tries to commit suicide therefore earning her right to become an angel. Readers do not know if Vicky returns or if she simply disappears off the face of the Earth. It is left for your imagination.
