Mary Dugan

A character in the 1927 play "The Trial of Mary Dugan" written by Bayard Veiller. The play centered around Mary Dugan, a woman caught in the middle of a murder investigation. The murder investigation took a dark turn when it revealed details about an intricate plot regarding her and an affair with another man, Jimmy Blake. The investigation revealed details regarding her and various explicit sexual acts, which were, for the time period, extremely controversial and extremely inappropriate.

Myth

It is believed that the character Jimmy Dugan is based on a real life man named Deryn Robson, born in 1882 and died in 1971.Fact|date=April 2007
