Privilegium pro Slavis is a privilege granted to the Slovak inhabitants of Žilina by the King Louis I of Hungary during his visit of Žilina in 1381.cite book | last = Kirschbaum | first = Stanislav J. | authorlink = | coauthors = | title = A history of Slovakia : the struggle for survival | publisher = St. Martin’s Press | date = 1995 | location = New York | pages = | url = | doi = | id = | isbn = ] According to this privilege Slovaks and Germans each occupied half of the seats in the city council and the mayor should be elected each year, alternating between those nationalities. It was issued after the complaints of Slovaks that the Germans refused to respect this rule. The privilege was preserved from duplication in 1431.
